Easy Checkout Dashboard
Monitoring Boards serve as a centralized module where merchants can access various metrics, charts, and summary tables.
SETTING THE PREMISE
The Easy Checkout (EC) Dashboard at Juspay offers comprehensive analytics on all the features a merchant has enabled for their transactions.
One of the core components of the EC Dashboard is the Monitoring Boards. These boards provide merchants with rich, data-intensive insights ranging from transaction success rates and payment gateway performance to the distribution of successful payment methods. Given the volume and complexity of this data, it’s crucial for us to present it in a format that is both easily accessible and highly readable for users.
WHOM ARE WE SOLVING FOR
Juspay’s Easy Checkout (EC) Dashboard is trusted by over 10k+ merchants, including leading brands like Swiggy, Zepto, Flipkart, Meesho, and Myntra. These merchants leverage Juspay’s payment solutions such as SDKs, Smart Routing, and UPI integrations. For merchants of this scale, the EC Dashboard serves as a unified analytics platform to monitor their daily successful transactions and overall payment performance.

CURRENT SCENARIO
Since merchants often enable multiple features through Juspay, the current Transaction Analytics module provides a high-level overview of much of this data. However, to access analytics for a specific feature, merchants need to apply several filters manually.
At times, merchants request additional filtering capabilities to generate more targeted insights. In the absence of such options, they often resort to using external tools like Mixpanel or Google Sheets to organize and visualize the raw data internally within their teams

WHAT IS NOT WORKING OUT
Data is often scattered, making it difficult to interpret without proper grouping or context.
Visualizations lack variety, making it challenging to identify trends or compare statistics effectively.
The filtering process is complex and not user-friendly, creating friction in accessing specific insights.

PRESSING QUESTIONS
How might we help users quickly access the specific data they’re looking for within Transaction Analytics?
How might we enhance the visualization of complex, data-heavy metrics to improve readability and comprehension?
How might we simplify the filter application process to make it more intuitive and efficient for users?
How might we deliver more actionable and meaningful insights to users, beyond raw data?
EXPLORATION 1
In the initial exploration, we focused on showcasing how users could leverage Juspay’s pre-built template boards to visualize their data effectively.
We also made the applied filters prominently visible, ensuring users clearly understood which filters were used to generate each board’s insights.
EXPLORATION 2
In this iteration, we introduced the ability for users to create their own boards. We implemented a side panel where users could input parameters and configure visualizations based on their selected filters.
However, a key challenge with this approach was that users couldn’t preview the outcome of their filter selections. They had no visibility into the resulting data visualization until they actually added it to the board, which could lead to confusion or unnecessary trial-and-error.
FINAL EXPLORATION
In the third and final iteration, I successfully addressed the earlier gap. Users were now able to input their selections and instantly preview the resulting visualization.
This real-time preview empowered users to clearly understand what their board would display before adding it, making the creation process more intuitive and efficient.
HOW DID I REACH TO THE SOLUTION
After pointing out the pain-points of the users and analysing the problem It was a tough decision to make, if we want to revamp the transaction analytics module all together since there merchants are facing issues out of it or we can come up with another module which can offer users to get grouped and more enhanced view of their data.
After a lot of discussions with PMs and Devs, we came to a conclusion that we will create new module called "Monitoring Boards" where users can have boards by themselves providing them different features. We do not want users to get overwhelmed with the revamp of the Transaction Analytics as it is the most used module on the EC Dashboard.
So, we decided to move users gradually to Monitoring boards where they can have multiple pre-made template boards from where they can see grouped data.

How this all started: With some black and red strokes
In the initial phase, our goal was to observe whether users were engaging with the pre-built Monitoring Board templates such as UPI Transactions and Card Transactions before moving forward with enabling them to create their own custom boards.
We wanted to validate two key things: Are users actually using the Monitoring Boards module? And if so, are the pre-defined templates meeting their needs, or is there demand for more customization?
Custom board creation was always part of our roadmap, but usage data reassured us that we were heading in the right direction. Approximately 60% of users visited the Monitoring Boards section, and 34% of them actively engaged with the available boards.
To understand the drop-off after initial visits, we conducted several calls with merchants. These conversations revealed that while the pre-built templates were useful, they lacked the granular filtering required for each merchant's unique use case. Based on this insight, we moved forward with implementing the custom board creation flow, allowing merchants to tailor boards to their specific needs.
KEY LEARNINGS & CHALLENGE
Working on Monitoring Boards came with its fair share of challenges. From validating the problem to testing potential solutions, it’s been a long and iterative journey. One of the biggest hurdles was that Transaction Analytics remains the most-used module on the EC Dashboard—making it difficult to maintain its current flow while encouraging users to adopt a new analytics module.
Discoverability of Monitoring Boards was a persistent issue during the initial months. Users were accustomed to heading straight to Transaction Analytics, often overlooking the new module. This made it essential for us to establish a clear connection or entry point between the two experiences.
Technical limitations were another major constraint, as is often the case with Juspay products. In some cases, we had to let go of more optimal designs due to backend restrictions. A key example was previewing user configurations: every change triggered a new API call, which incurred a cost. To manage performance and cost efficiency, we had to minimize these API requests—forcing design compromises.

FUTURE SCOPE
Even after multiple design iterations, I believe there’s still significant room for improvement in the current flow. One of the key challenges that remains is helping users apply the right filters to get accurate results an area that still poses friction.
To address this, we’re working on an upcoming feature: Genius AI for Monitoring Boards.
Genius AI is envisioned as an intelligent assistant across the Juspay Dashboard, aimed at making the use of AI more seamless and ambient. With this feature, users will be able to input natural language prompts, and Genius AI will generate the desired data views removing the guesswork around which filters to apply.
This will greatly reduce the time users spend configuring their boards and enhance their overall experience.
We’re actively building this and will be sharing more updates soon…
There’s still a lot evolving within this module, so expect updates and changes to this case study as things progress. It’s possible that we might even pivot significantly from the current direction. I’ll be sharing our success metrics soon stay tuned!
